Horse & Rider BUY WISE

Electronic Horseman (Reprinted from the December 2000 issue)

Good for you if: You own a moderate to large herd (from five to 50 horses), are a hobby or small-business breeder, or run a small boarding operation. Features: This software is a fabulous find that has a little bit of everything, combining a wealth of common features with well-designed window displays. It easily tracks your show, boarding, training, feed, insurance, inventory, breeding, veterinary, and farrier records for a few or a large number of horses. The Batch Entry feature allows you to enter one task (such as shoeing) for multiple horses with a few keystrokes. For support, the company offers PedigreeBiz ($50) for the breeder/sales agent, and EquiForms ($50) to guide you through the never-pleasant task of producing legal documentation. For more information see pages 55-56 in the December issue of Horse & Rider Magazine.

Horse & Rider June 1999 Product Review
By April Fingerlos
(Reprinted from the June 1999 issue)

If you're like me, organizing your horse's records was high on your New Year's resolution list, but the task still remains untouched. To help make this time-consuming chore a breeze, I recommend Cheval Publishing's HorseBiz.

This software allows me to track such important information as breeding and management records, expenses, special activities, training logs, show records, and more.  I can also print an assortment of reports for each of those records.

Installing the software from a CD-ROM was simple. Within minutes, I was inputting my horse's pedigree, training notes, shows we attended, and points we'd earned.  I also marked when he's due for vet and farrier appointments this year. (This report provides a good reminder to schedule such appointments.) The show-records section includes a feature that allows you to chronicle judge's comments, record patterns, or make a to-do list before the next show.

Until now, I'd always relied on my trusty financial software to track expenses, but nowhere in that program can I enter notes about a nasty trail obstacle I encountered at a show or a breakthrough in my horse's training.  For those with more than one horse, HorseBiz easily updates records on multiple horses with a few clicks of the mouse.

(Note: To run this program all you need is an IBM or compatible PC with a 486 processor; Windows 95, 98 or NT; 8 megabytes of RAM; and a CD-ROM drive.)

HorseBiz update includes PedigreeBiz v. 2.0 July '98

The fastest selling equine management software in the U.S.

For immediate release – Cheval Publishing, Inc. announces the release of PedigreeBiz in HorseBiz Equine Management Software version 2.1.5. HorseBiz is a windows-based program that assists horse owners in keeping track of their horse activities and records. It has a multitude of features to manage every detail of horse businesses. HorseBiz holds an unlimited number of horse records, which makes it a great management tool for the individual horse owner or the business horse segment.

Horse owners can now use HorseBiz to build a custom database of pedigrees and create hypothetical mateing's with this powerful new addition to HorseBiz. Once the user has entered a horse’s pedigree, it is there to select "on the fly" in any horse’s pedigree – no retyping! Each horse is automatically linked to other horse’s in its pedigree, highlighting any horse that appears more than once in a pedigree.

The ability to create hypothetical mateing's allows users to create mateing's between any sire and dam in their database. Because of the highlighting of repeated names in a pedigree, it’s easy to check for duplicate names in a pedigree. PedigreeBiz prints both pedigree and hypothetical mateing's.
